Celebrating its 20th year the Summer Reading Challenge takes place each year during the summer holidays.
The 2019 theme is Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Children taking part in the Challenge will join the super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens.
Space Chase will feature bespoke artwork from top children’s illustrator, Adam Stower, and will celebrate adventure, exploration, reading and fun.
The Challenge will launch in libraries in Cheshire East on 6th July and runs until 7th September
You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six library books during the long summer holiday. Children can read whatever they like – fiction, fact books, poetry, joke books, picture books, audio books – just as long as they are borrowed from the library. Each time they finish a book there is a special reward and everyone who completes the Challenge will receive a certificate.
The challenge is open to all primary school aged children and is designed for all reading abilities.
